SHN Foundation works diligently in support of Scarborough Health Network, raising funds through the generosity of donors, volunteers and community partners. Scarborough Health Network (SHN)
includes three hospitals and provides health programs and services to one of Canada’s most diverse communities. To better support outreach and donor engagement, SHN Foundation invested in a new website design and web development project.

SHN Foundation team members worked with the Sandbox team to map out requirements for their new website including wireframes, sitemap and functionality. From those requirements, Sandbox designed the new user experience for the website prioritizing usability, accessibility and the Foundation's branding strategy. In bringing the new concept to reality, Sandbox built the website in the WordPress Content Management System. Tools and features aimed at promoting donor engagement, events, patient stories and the impact of generous donors were developed. The responsive and accessible website also clearly communicates the foundation's key priorities for SHN including Transforming Kidney Care, Innovating Diagnostic Imaging, Expanding Emergency Care and Evolving Mental Health.


Sandbox was grateful to partner with SHN Foundation to develop a donor-centric website which is easier to manage, works well on mobile devices, and better reflects the overall SHN brand and their community’s pride in SHN. Key to the success of the new site is the foundation’s ability to tell impactful stories online, with a focus on what, why and how donors are supporting SHN through the foundation. Calls to action drive community members to support their hospital through appropriate campaigns, events or donations. Further, the design provides a cohesive look and streamlines visitor flow throughout the site. The result is a donor journey within the site, tying content back to the amazing work of and impact of the hospital network. Built in WordPress, the site has many integrations including social media, mailing lists, and SHN's donation management platform (Raisin). The website pages are print-friendly, accessible and easy to manage by the SHN Foundation team. Sandbox also assisted SHN Foundation in developing their Love, Scarborough campaign microsite to support their $100 million fundraising goal. Since launching the site, the home page has been further refined to better complement this significant campaign.
