The Guelph Humane Society provides food, shelter, and other creature comforts to cats, dogs, and small animals found in the Guelph region. The nonprofit also facilitates countless adoptions, manages a host of dedicated volunteers, and maintains a local emergency service. To make its communications more efficient, the Humane Society wanted to refresh their website with a contemporary look and cross-platform design.

Solution
Sandbox used the cost-effective, open source WordPress CMS to develop the new Humane Society website. Integration with Google maps, and optimizing the site for search. Sandbox integrated with BlackBaud to facilitate online donations. The team also added a vibrant rotating banner to the site’s homepage, which showcases fundraising events, adoption opportunities, and community programming. By using the technically sophisticated but simple to use WordPress CMS, the staff at the Humane Society can automate much of their website management and therefore devote more time to the animals in their care.
Outcome
A successful Not-For-Profit website should celebrate a unique cause while effectively connecting volunteers, donors, and community members. The Guelph Humane Society website is able to do just that. Employees can now easily point stakeholders to the organization’s services and adoption listings, and administrators can leverage an improved Content Management System to keep resources up to date. The new site tools improve the success of the individuals who operate the Humane Society as well as the animals they serve on a daily basis.
