The Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP) represents more than 13,500 family physicians across the province. Established in 1954, the not-for-profit and member-driven organization promotes and recognizes leadership excellence in family medicine. The OCFP website houses information for several key audiences including family physicians, clinical and non-physician stakeholders in primary care, health system partners, media, and the general public. In 2018, the OCFP issued an RFP to undertake a complete redesign of the OCFP’s public website.

  • Provide a responsive design with a user-friendly, intuitive, structure
  • Ability to have secured areas of the website for OCFP board and committee members
  • Registration capabilities for events, courses, and conferences

Solution

Sandbox facilitated our proprietary digital strategy workshops to discover more details about the needs of the OCFP and its membership. Through stakeholder interviews, advisory boards and card sort activities with both internal and external stakeholders, Sandbox was able to deliver a thorough set of recommendations for the new website. Recommendations included detailed wireframes, a new sitemap, and restructured information architecture. Sandbox built the new OCFP website using our proprietary content management system, OASIS. Our intuitive and easy-to-use CMS equipped the OCFP with out-of-the-box functionality that included online forms, calendars, event registration, advanced search, document libraries, online discussion boards, polls, surveys, and more.

Outcome

The new OCFP website allows public users and physician members to access clinical tools and resources such as dosage calculators, referral forms, and guidelines and articles on healthcare best practices. Web administrators can maintain both their public website and the secured portal through the easy-to-use OASIS content management system.

"Sandbox Software Solutions has been an absolute pleasure to work with from the outset of our website redevelopment project, all the way into launch and beyond."

— Kendra Stephenson, Manager, Strategic Communications, Ontario College of Family Physicians

The website was designed and built to achieve AODA and WCAG compliance and ensure a seamless user experience regardless of the device or browser being used.

> Digital Strategy & Consulting

Both the OCFP public website and secured portal are built in OASIS. The powerful OASIS calendar module provided OCFP with granular event management capabilities on their website, providing users with a simple registration experience.

> OASIS Content Management System

Using OASIS, Sandbox created a password-protected portal for board and committee members. A secured document repository is currently being developed.
