Ontario Culture Days (ONCD) is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to celebrating the uniqueness and diversity of artists and cultural groups in Ontario communities.
About the project and project drivers
In 2021, ONCD partnered with Sandbox as they wanted to effectively determine their digital needs through discovery, journey mapping and recommendations. In redesigning and redeveloping their site, ONCD aimed to refresh their site design, prioritize accessibility for site visitors with disabilities, and showcase Culture Guides with ease.
What we accomplished
As part of determining the digital needs of ONCD, Sandbox conducted a thorough consulting process. To ensure that the new website would be uniquely tailored to the ONCD team and audience, Sandbox conducted numerous activities during the Discovery Phase including:
- A workshop to discuss the existing web properties and the digital tools that would be relevant to the project
- A review of six comparator websites that were reviewed in detail
- A review of ONCD’s existing website analytics
- Key informant / stakeholder interviews with those selected by the ONCD team
- Journey mapping to identify and profile the end users of the website, as to understand their needs and the optimal pathways through the site
After the activities were completed, Sandbox developed recommendations that were presented and delivered to ONCD. These recommendations were then leveraged to obtain a grant, which supported ONCD in their journey to redeveloping their website. Following approvals, in January 2024, ONCD, once again, partnered with Sandbox for the redesign and redevelopment of their website.
With the new Ontario Culture Days website, the ONCD team can effectively market the Culture Days Festival, which takes place throughout the province every fall. During the off-season, they can now provide site visitors with a series of Culture Guides that provides tourists with curated visits to Ontario communities through an artistic and cultural lens.
